Why Financial Literacy Matters: The Story Behind 7 Pillars That Separate the Wealthy From the Poor.”

7 Pillars That Separate the Wealthy From the Poor: Building Better Money Habits and Wealth

I wrote 7 Pillars That Separate the Wealthy From the Poor because I believe financial literacy can change lives. As a financial coach in Maryland, I have seen that earning more money does not automatically lead to financial success. Building wealth often comes down to your mindset, money habits, financial decisions, and what you consistently do with the money you earn. My goal with this book was simple: make financial literacy easy to understand and practical enough to use in everyday life.

Why Did I Write This Book?

Over the years, I have worked with people from different income levels and financial backgrounds. One lesson continues to stand out: your income matters, but what you do with your income matters even more.

Someone can earn a great salary and still struggle financially. Another person can earn less but consistently save, invest, avoid unnecessary debt, and build wealth over time.

That difference fascinated me.

I wanted to write a book that explored some of the habits and principles that can separate people who continually struggle with money from those who are intentional about building wealth.

Financial Literacy Is More Than Knowing About Money

Financial literacy is not simply knowing financial terms. It is understanding how money works well enough to make informed decisions with it.

You can know what a budget is and still not have one.

You can understand the importance of saving and still spend your entire paycheck.

You can know that investing is important and continue putting it off.

Knowledge is important, but knowledge combined with execution will improve your financial future.

Better Money Habits Can Help You Build Wealth

Building wealth rarely happens because of one great financial decision. It is usually the result of many good decisions made consistently over time.

Creating a budget matters.

Living on less than you make matters.

Saving consistently matters.

Understanding assets and liabilities matters.

Investing matters.

Avoiding unnecessary debt matters.

Continuing to improve your financial literacy matters.

These decisions may seem small individually, but when practiced consistently, they can have a significant impact on your financial future.

Wealth is not only about making money. It is about learning how to manage, keep, and grow it.

Your Mindset About Money Matters

One of the biggest financial changes a person can make may have nothing to do with their bank account.

It starts with their mindset.

How do you view money?

Do you see money primarily as something to spend, or do you see it as a tool?

Do you believe increasing your income will solve all of your financial problems, or are you also developing the habits necessary to manage a larger income?

Do you make financial decisions based on what other people will think, or based on what is best for your financial future?

Changing the way you think about money can eventually change the way you use it.

That is why one of the principles I emphasize as a financial coach is:

Change your mindset, grow your money.

Who Is This Book For?

I intentionally wrote 7 Pillars That Separate the Wealthy From the Poor to be a quick and easy read.

You do not need a finance degree to understand it.

The book is for people who want to improve their financial literacy, especially those who grew up at or below the poverty line. If that was your experience, there may be financial habits, beliefs, and lessons you need to learn, as well as some you may need to unlearn.

This book is also for people making $100,000 or more who know they should be doing better financially. A strong income does not automatically create wealth. Learning how to manage, keep, and grow your money is just as important as learning how to earn it.

You do not have to wait until you are wealthy to start thinking like someone who wants to build wealth.

Start With One Better Financial Decision

You do not have to change everything about your finances today.

Start with one decision.

Create your first budget.

Save your first $1,000.

Pay off a debt.

Review your spending.

Learn something new about investing.

Have a financial conversation with your family.

Then make another good decision.

Financial success is a journey, and every good financial decision can move you closer to where you want to be. That is ultimately why I wrote 7 Pillars That Separate the Wealthy From the Poor. I want people to understand that building wealth is not reserved for a select group of people. Financial literacy can be learned, money habits can be changed, and better financial decisions can be made.

Money is a tool, not a toy. Learn how to use it.
